SBMA Ltd joins Melbourne charity fun run

On 27th July 2014 SBMA Ltd successfully participated, as part of the Geotech Group team, in the 5km fun run in Melbourne, Australia and also made a donation to the related HAGAR AUSTRALIA fund (see background below).

Hagar restores the lives and hopes of women and children devastated by human trafficking, domestic violence, rape and sexual exploitation. We are an international organization committed to the recovery, empowerment, and reintegration of those who have suffered extreme human rights abuses.

Mothersille to Speak at Deep Foundations Institute seminar on Slope Stabilization and Excavation Support Seminar

Hawthorne, NJ (July 24, 2014): Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) announces that Devon Mothersille, B.Eng (Hons), Ph.D., C.Eng, FICE, Single Bore Multiple Anchor Ltd and Geoserve Global Ltd, will make a presentation titled “Rehabilitation of Large Slope Using Specialized Ground Anchor Technology” at the Deep Foundations for Slope Stabilization and Excavation Support Seminar on August 12-13, 2014, at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown, Pittsburgh, PA.

Organized by DFI’s Deep Foundations for Landslides/Slope Stabilization and Tiebacks and Soil Nailing Committees, the

1.5 day seminar features lectures by industry experts on current technologies, as well as key design concepts and case histories that illustrate effective application of deep foundations for stabilization of slopes and excavation support. The presentations highlight recent and future projects that include challenging slope and landslide repairs as well as excavation support with deep foundation methods.

SBMA Ltd visit to Japan- July 2014

In July 2014 Dr Devon Mothersille shared a stage with Dr Donald Bruce (President of Geosystems L.P.) in Tokyo, Japan and assisted him in the delivery of his excellent lecture on the state of current practice of post-tensioned dams in North America. Dr Mothersille and Dr Bruce also presented at the Academic scholarship ground anchor symposium hosted by the Japan Anchor Association (JAA).  Dr Mothersille’s paper was entitled ‘Ground anchors – special applications and some recent developments’.

The symposium was opened by the JAA President Iwao Nakahara and the JAA Chairman (Academic scholarship Jury) Takeshi Kimura. Other presenters included Koichi Yokota (Technical Chairman, JAA), Professor Satoru Kiyomiya (Waseda University), Hideaki Kawasaki  (Japan Dam Engineering Centre, Chief Researcher).  The symposium was closed by Hiroshi Yamada (JAA Public information chairman).

Dr Mothersille visited a ground anchor slope stabilization project at Nagai Dam and the region in the north of Japan that was affected by the Tsunami of 2011

 

 

 

 

In addition Dr Mothersille addressed a special audience comprising selected Japanese anchor contractors to introduce new innovative software developed by SBMA Ltd in association with geotechnical software developer hetGE.
